ROMAC (Rotary Oceanic Medical Aid for Children)
ROMAC is a special Rotary Charity whose mission is to provide medical treatment for children from developing countries in the form of life saving and/or dignity restoring surgery not accessible to them in their home country.
The Objectives of ROMAC are:
- To provide hope where there is no hope
- To restore dignity to human life
- To save or transform the lives of children from developing countries.
- To provide the best possible medical and surgical expertise
In past years Rotary District 9940 has assisted 5 young people to be restored back to good health.
Special Request Of Clubs
Gialdred Mayretta (aged 16 months) Paul Harris Fellow Dr Brendon Bowkett (Paediatric Surgeon Specialist) at Wellington Children’s Hospital has been asked to operate on a 16 month old young girl (Gialdred Mayretta) from East Timor.
Dr Brendon and his team will undertake the operation (Pelvic Reconstruction) on 4th December here in Wellington.
Dr Brendon and his team are giving their skills and time free but the cost of all the equipment and theatre etc will cost about $6,000.
